Patsy Hudson

After years of raising concerns and chasing answers, Patsy Hudson, who lives in North Wales,  underwent a full hysterectomy when a borderline ovarian tumour was found.

Patsy made several attempts to understand what was causing her abdominal pain of over a decade. She had three sonograms and an appointment with a gastroenterologist who conducted a blood test, which was later lost.

A second scan found a ‘pedunculus’ but no further action was taken. On her third scan, Patsy felt something was wrong when “staff spoke in whispers missing words out of their sentences” and she was advised she’d need a GP referral to gynaecology.
The referral Patsy requested from her GP was further delayed and lost during the pandemic. However, in the meantime she received a no-reply text from a different doctor advising the scan showed ‘ovarian abnormalities’.

Six months after the scan, another GP made an urgent referral after Patsy had a “breakdown on the phone”. She eventually underwent a full hysterectomy, 11 months after the first GP appointment when a borderline ovarian tumour was discovered.
